On September 10th, 2019, at 22:00 UTC, the National Commission on Nuclear Safety and Safeguards (CNSNS) was informed about the lost of a brachytherapy seed of Cs-137 with an activity of 1.067 GBq (SN. ET209) within a medical facility. This category 5 radioactive source is a property of Servicios de salud de Michoacan, Centro Estatal de Atencion Oncologica (a medical facility licensed by the CNSNS).
