Exposure of a worker to a level of 50% of the statutory dose limit

Routine health monitoring identified that a worker had inhaled a small quantity of radioactive material. The resulting radiation dose, combined with the worker's other occupational radiation exposure during the year, exceeded half of the legal annual radiation dose limit for workers. Routine dosimetry monitoring remained effective and no other workers were affected. The internal monitoring samples provided by the individual's colleagues, and others working in the immediate area, has concluded that no other employees within the building had received any significant dose. No members of the public were affected and no ongoing safety risk was identified.
