Event during operation of Zaporizhzhya NPP Unit №3

On 28 of November 2014 at 19:24 the disconnection of the Unit №3 of Zaporizhzhya NPP from power grid occurred. According to the preliminary information the cause of the occurrence was the failure of electrical equipment in the turbine hall.
As of 3rd December 2014 the reactor facility remains in the “cold” shutdown.
According to the preliminary evaluation this situation is qualified according to INES scale – “0-deviation (No Safety Significance)”.
There were no negative observations in the work of technological protection, blocking, I&C and equipment.
Special investigation commission was established.
Radiation situation at the site of Zaporizhzhya NPP remains within limits of normal operation, physical protection systems operate in normal mode.

General information:
As of 3 of December 2014 all 15 power units of Ukrainian NPP are in the design mode. 12 power units are in operation. Unit №1 of Zaporizhzhya NPP is under the maintenance from 08.09.2014 till 30.12.2014, Unit №1 of Khmelnitsky NPP is under the maintenance from 01.11.2014 till 15.12.2014, Unit №3 of Zaporizhzhya NPP is under the maintenance from 28.11.2014 till 05.12.2014.
